Super Easy Baby Socks

This is a pattern for very easy baby socks – they don´t even require heel knitting!
The socks are tied around the ankle, so that they will be able to stay on those active baby feet.
It is really helpful to use the Magic Loop Method here, as there are so few stitches to work with. It will even allow you to make both sock at the same time!
Size: Newborn (foot length: 9 cm)
Gauge: 29 sts = 4 inches or 10 cm in stockinette stitch (make a swatch).
You need:
Needle 3 mm (US 2 ½)
Tapestry needle
Approx. 1 meter/yard of thread in contrasting color
2 ribbons (or you can make some out of the same yarn)
1 ball of babywool (you just need about 30 g)
Yarn weight: Fingering (or light fingering)
Yardage: approx. 105 meters of yarn
Abbreviations:
k= knit
p= purl
sts= stitches
n= needle
M1= make 1 stitch with a backward loop (increase)
k2tog= knit two stitches together
p2tog= purl two stitches together
ssk= Slip, slip, knit.
yo= yarn over.
DPN: double pointed needle
Rib= *k2, p2*. Always knit stitches above previous knit stitches, and purl above purl stitches. This means that you sometimes have to start the ribbing with purl stitches. For example: If you add a stitch before two knit stitches, this will have to be a purl stitch.
Cast on 36 sts on needle 3 mm. Knit all sts in rib (*k 2, p 2*) in the round, until your work measures 7 cm (or however long you wish it to be).
Make holes for the ribbon: *K 2, yo, p2tog*. Repeat between ** for all sts in that round.
Make 3 more rounds of rib.
You have now gotten to the place where we want the heel to be. Take out the thread in a contrasting color, and knit half of the sts in the round with it (18 sts). Then put all these sts back on the needle in your left hand and knit all of them with the main yarn. You have now put it a tread that can be taken out to reveal live sts later.
Continue knitting all sts until the foot measures 4 cm (measured from the contrast thread).
Toe decreasing:
Round 1: *Ssk, k 14, k2tog*, repeat ** once.
Round 2: K all sts (no decreases)
Round 3: *Ssk, k 12, k2tog*, repeat ** once.
Round 4: K all sts (no decreases)
Round 5: *Ssk, k 10, k2tog*, repeat ** once.
Round 6: K all sts (no decreases)
Continue in the same way, kntting 2 fewer sts between the decreases for each time, until you have 16 sts left. Put the 8 sts from the top on one DPN, and the 8 sts from the bottom(the side with the contrast thread) on one DPN. Sew together using Kitchener Stitch (grafting).
Heel:
Carefully pull out the contrasting thread, and pick up the live stitches on both sides. You are supposed to get 18 sts from the cuff and 18 sts from under the foot = 36 sts.
Repeat the same process that you did on the toe decreasing.
Thread ribbon trough the holes, and enjoy the cute result
